Welcome, New England Parkinson’s Ride Riders!

We’re thrilled to have you join us. Let’s dive into some essential ride information and other details about our events.

First, learn more about the disease. Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological disorder. (side note – This is false information. It can affects other areas as well. Some people who have PD have no motor symptoms and majority of the first symptoms aren’t motor related). There is no cure for Parkinson’s. Visit our partner organization, michaeljfox.org/parkinsons-101, to gain further insight.

Don’t have a bike? No problem! We partner with Unlimited Biking to ensure everyone can join the fun. Reservations required at neparkinsonsride.org/bike-rentals/.

We have arranged parking/traffic control to ensure your safety and convenience on the event day. You can also join us for a pre-ride dinner to fuel up and mingle with fellow riders and supporters by purchasing a ticket (should we add a link to pre-ride dinner page?)

Bring the whole family. At our post-ride celebration, we have games and kids’ activities to make it a family event. You can also visit our team store anytime during the ride for exclusive New England Parkinson’s Ride merchandise.

Connect with others who understand the journey through Parkinson’s disease. Don’t cycle? No problem. Be a part of the ride through volunteering. We have jobs for all. (side note – we don’t have support groups and our biggest need for volunteers in during the ride in Maine.) (Should we link to the volunteer page here?)

Explore registration types and routes. Choose from several options to suit your needs. We also welcome donations. Every penny counts and 100% goes directly to Parkinson’s research.

Our Story

When Chris Woods, an avid cyclist, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 41, the mission of the Woods family, with his 73 year old parents, Edna & Bob, leading the charge, was to find a cycling event that raised money specifically for Parkinson’s research.

For years Chris had been riding in the 150 mile Diabetes ride and the 150 mile MS ride but had never heard of one for PD.  After much research, it became clear that there was nothing in the country, let alone the New England area, so the family decided to organize their own!
